What to expect when working with us.
Your ‘initial assessment’ is your first appointment with a psychologist at Brighter Paths. During this appointment we offer you a non-judgemental and supportive space for you to talk about your difficulties, discuss your background history and think about what led to your difficulties. We will also start to think together about how we can help you to overcome these difficulties.
This initial assessment enables us to identify the most effective type of therapy for you and outline what you can expect. We can also give you an idea of the duration and cost of therapy.
Therapy sessions are usually one hour in length and take place most commonly on a weekly basis. The therapy that will be used will be based upon your difficulties, the goals that you want to achieve in therapy and what is most effective in overcoming the type of difficulties that you are facing. The aim of psychological therapy is to help you to understand your difficulties, to recognise how these are affecting you and to equip you with lifelong skills to overcome them.
